Self hypnosis

If you look on the Internet you will find hundreds of websites and companies trying to sell (or even give you) their proven guide to self hypnosis or the complete self hypnosis pack including tapes, leaflets and heaven knows what else. Is it all a load of rubbish, people just trying to make a fast buck? Can self hypnosis work, is it dangerous even?

With Self hypnosis there isn't the same role playing, co-operative element as there is with stage hypnosis or even one to one hypnotism sessions. People often feel reassured because of this and are often more likely to try self hypnosis before other forms of hypnosis.

So what exactly is self hypnosis? Basically it's seen as a gentle way of boosting self confidence to help you learn new things, become a happier person and learn to cope more easily with the stress and problems of daily life. Some practitioners claim it can even help you change certain of your physical aspects or mannerisms.

It is a generally accepted fact that a positive attitude can make you a happier person. It therefore follows that if you believe you're happy then you will probably be happy. So if you can convince yourself subconsciously in some way that you can handle that mean person at work, other people do find you attractive and you are capable of doing lots of things then, maybe, all that could turn out to be true.

Now, some people take one look at themselves in the mirror and say "yeah, right, I can do all that? What a joke!" If you're a little sceptical then why not try one of those proven online methods of learning self hypnosis. If not then just try listening to an audio tape or two to see if it works for you. If you're really serious about wanting to change your life and you believe that self hypnosis could help but you're a little worried about being taken for a ride then why not contact some of these colleges, academies and foundations that you can find online and see what they can offer you.

Many Self Hypnosis supporters say that all of us practise self hypnotism at times without even knowing. As hypnosis can be seen as a type of pre-sleep, a state of being between consciousness an unconsciousness, one step after meditation then when we fall alone and by ourselves into a trance of some kind we could be described as being in a self hypnotised state. All of us have fallen into an open eyed doze at some time, either whilst reading a book, watching television or driving down some lonely highway. Looking at it that way self hypnosis isn't worrying at all and it's true that one can snap out of this hypnotic state just by shaking ones head and blinking a few times.

Next time why don't you take it a step further and do it positively. Tomorrow morning when you wake up, smile at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you're going to have a great day and meet some fantastic people. I hope it works for you, keep smiling!
